This website was born from that vision: the desire to bring together and give shape to an artistic journey that is diverse in its forms yet deeply coherent at its core. It is a place where theatre, literature, film, voice and music converge, inviting visitors to discover Gianfranco Onatzirò Obinu not only as a performer, but above all as an author.

Onatzirò is the artistic name of Gianfranco Onatzirò Obinu—author, actor, playwright, novelist and voice artist; above all, a man devoted to the power of words.
His artistic journey spans theatre, fiction, film, voice acting and music, yet everything he creates springs from the same source: a desire to explore the human condition in all its contradictions, wounds, aspirations and stubborn attempts to remain standing.
Born in Sardinia, adopted by Tuscany and, by vocation, a citizen of the world, Onatzirò has built an independent artistic career that defies easy categorisation. Theatre has always been one of his natural homes: a physical and symbolic space where words become flesh, characters come alive, and the great dramatic tradition meets original works exploring dignity, identity, memory, justice and social vulnerability.
As an actor, he has performed works ranging from classical theatre to modern and contemporary drama, interpreting plays by Gogol, Molière, Ibsen, Sophocles, Tennessee Williams, Steinbeck and many other major playwrights. Throughout his career he has embodied comic, tragic, dramatic and grotesque characters, developing a stage presence that blends physical expression, vocal mastery, irony and emotional depth.
Music naturally belongs within this creative landscape. Onatzirò writes original lyrics and music born from the meeting point between theatrical language and the tradition of the singer-songwriter. His songs often unfold as stories, inner monologues or miniature theatrical scenes, populated by memorable characters, everyday images and reflections on society. They speak of fragile balances, love worn down by time, irony, disillusionment, anger, tenderness and the enduring search for redemption.
His two unreleased projects, Equilibrio Instabile (Unstable Balance) and Una nuova era (A New Era), embody this creative vision. They are not simply collections of songs, but complete artistic worlds made of stories waiting to find their voice. Some pieces already exist in fully realised musical form, while others invite new interpretations, arrangements and collaborations. More than songs to be performed, they are stories to inhabit, seeking artists capable of embracing their shadows, sarcasm, vulnerability and emotional power.
Alongside theatre, fiction represents another essential dimension of his work. With the novel Senza il mio nome, published by Porto Seguro, and the short stories collected in Brevi che ti passa, Onatzirò brings to the page the same qualities that define his theatrical writing: a love of storytelling, a keen sense of rhythm, an attentive eye for detail, and the ability to uncover the absurdity, pain and tenderness hidden within everyday life.
For Onatzirò, however, theatre is far more than performance. It is also writing—a place where words become action, responsibility and witness. He is the author of several original plays with a strong social and human focus, including Con la notte nel cuore, Confronti, Amori di Cristallo and Il Muro, the monologue that earned him recognition among the winners of the international Per Voce Sola Prize, promoted by the Luzzati Foundation – Teatro della Tosse in Genoa.
His plays frequently give voice to people living on the margins, exploring moral conflict, inner dialogue and uncomfortable questions. The stage becomes a place of encounter—where individuals confront themselves, one another, and the historical moment they inhabit.
His artistic career also extends to film, television and voice acting. He has appeared in feature productions, short films, docu-fiction projects and television programmes, working both as an actor and as a voice performer. A graduate of the professional dubbing school Sincrodub in Bologna, he has refined his vocal and acting skills under the guidance of distinguished teachers, developing a distinctive approach to the voice as a storytelling instrument—one that interprets, accompanies, reveals and transforms.
